MARD beads

Using MARD colors when you turn a photo into a bead pattern

If you bought MARD in China or elsewhere, match that brand in the tool — not Perler — so codes on the chart match your boxes.

Why pick MARD

MARD (~291 colors) is common in China. If your boxes say MARD, choose that palette so the chart codes match what you can buy. All five brands share ~5 mm pegboards — match the brand you own. See brand palettes.

Settings in the maker

Open the pattern maker → Colors → MARD → upload. Icons: 1 board; faces: 2+. See board size and photo workflow.

Color count and close shades

A large palette does not mean use every color. Start at 10–15 max colors; portraits 20–30. Screen values are approximate — check close skin and grey tones in real light. See max colors.

When you are missing colors

Use Replace all to map a rare code to a MARD shade you own, or switch brands knowing the whole chart remaps. See replace all and materials.

Print and edit

Print the chart, or refine in the designer. Gallery: free patterns (switch brand on the detail page).
