Minecraft Sphere Generator
Pick a diameter and step through the sphere one horizontal layer at a time, with the center marked, blocks per row and the total number of blocks for the whole build.
The red cells mark the center. Rows are counted from the top.
Blocks per row
Build a sphere or dome in three steps
-
Choose the diameter
Enter how many blocks across the sphere should be, from 3 to 200.
-
Hollow or solid
Hollow spheres are a one-block shell and use far fewer blocks. Solid spheres are filled all the way through.
-
Build layer by layer
Start with layer 1 at the bottom, place it using the row counts, then move to the next layer.
Spheres without the guesswork
Every layer
Step through the sphere from bottom to top with the slider or the arrow buttons.
Hollow shell
The hollow mode keeps only the blocks you can see, so there are no holes when viewed from any side.
Domes
Build only the layers from the middle up for a dome or planetarium roof.
Block totals
See the blocks in the current layer and in the whole sphere.
Center marked
Red cells mark the middle of each layer so every layer lines up.

Tips for building spheres in Minecraft
A sphere is a stack of circles that grow toward the middle and shrink toward the top. The generator calculates each layer so that the shape is round from every side, not just from above.
Plan the center column
Place a temporary column of blocks (or scaffolding) at the center, as tall as the diameter. Every layer is built around that column, so the layers stay aligned. Remove it when you are done.
Domes
A dome is the top half of a sphere: start at the middle layer (the widest one) and build upward. For a dome on top of a round tower, use the same diameter for the tower in the circle generator.
How many blocks?
Hollow spheres grow roughly with the square of the diameter, solid ones with the cube. A solid sphere quickly needs thousands of blocks, so check the total before you start mining.

Minecraft sphere generator questions
How do I build a sphere in Minecraft?
Choose the diameter above, then build layer 1 (the bottom) using the row counts. Move up one layer at a time with the slider until you reach the top.
How do I make a dome?
Build from the middle layer, the widest one, up to the top. That is exactly half a sphere.
What does hollow mean?
Hollow keeps only the outer shell, one block thick, so you can walk inside. The shell has no gaps from any direction.
Why is my sphere not round?
Usually a layer is off-center. Build a center column first and line every layer up with the red center cells.
Can I make a circle instead?
Yes, use the Minecraft circle generator for flat circles and ovals.
