From picture to a Minecraft build in three steps
-
Upload a picture
Characters, logos, game sprites and simple drawings convert best. Small pixel art is kept one block per pixel.
-
Choose blocks and size
Use wool, concrete, terracotta or all three, and choose how many blocks wide the build should be.
-
Gather and build
Collect the blocks from the list, then build row by row from the bottom, following the numbered grid.
Plan the build, not just the picture
48 survival-friendly blocks
All 16 colors of wool, concrete and terracotta. Each cell gets the closest block, and small details keep their own color when you limit the palette.
Block counts in stacks
The list shows how many of each block you need and how many full stacks of 64 that is.
Chunk-sized grid
Bold lines every 16 blocks match Minecraft chunks, and every row and column is numbered.
Background removal
A plain background around the subject is left empty, so you build only the art.
Edit block by block
Swap any block with paint, fill or erase, then undo if you change your mind.
Printable plan
Print the build plan split into pages, with the block list on the first page.
Tips for building pixel art in Minecraft
Pixel art in Minecraft is a flat picture made of solid blocks, usually built as a wall or laid on the ground and viewed from above. The generator matches every pixel of your image to the closest block color from three families:
- Concrete: the brightest, flattest colors. Best for logos and cartoons.
- Wool: slightly softer colors with texture. Easy to get by dyeing white wool, but flammable.
- Terracotta: muted earthy tones that are great for skin, wood and shading.
How big?
32 blocks wide is a quick survival build. 64 blocks is the usual size for detailed characters and needs about 4,096 blocks, roughly 64 stacks, if the picture fills the whole square. 128 blocks is the width of one map, but note that map art uses the separate map color palette, so a block build and a map render will not look identical.
Building it
Start at the bottom row and work up, counting blocks along each row; the numbers on both sides of the chart help you keep your place. For wall builds, place a line of scaffolding in front of the wall. For round shapes in your builds, use the Minecraft circle generator or the sphere generator.

Minecraft pixel art generator questions
How do I turn a picture into Minecraft pixel art?
Upload the picture above, choose the block types and the width in blocks. The generator shows the build block by block and lists every block you need.
Which blocks are best for pixel art?
Concrete has the most vivid, flat colors. Terracotta adds muted browns, pinks and greys that help with shading. Using all three families together gives 48 colors and the closest match.
How many blocks do I need?
It depends on the size and how much of the image is background. The block list counts exactly; a full 64 × 64 square needs 4,096 blocks, which is 64 stacks.
Does it work for Java and Bedrock?
Yes. Wool, concrete and terracotta exist in both editions with the same colors.
Can I use it for map art?
You can use it to plan a 128-block-wide image, but map art is rendered with Minecraft map colors, which differ from block colors. Expect the map version to look a little different.
Is my image uploaded?
No. The conversion runs in your browser and the image never leaves your device.
