Colors menu
In the Perler maker or designer, open Colors: Perler, Hama, Artkal, MARD, Nabbi. The active brand drives:
- the target set used when quantizing the image;
- codes, names, and counts in Materials;
- the full swatch list in the designer;
- the coding system behind Display → Show codes.
Gallery brand switches usually cover the first four; Nabbi is mainly in maker/designer Colors. Board width and print paging: board width and pagination.
The five brands
- Perler — common in North America (~103 colors).
- Hama Midi — common in Europe (~92).
- Artkal S 5 mm — larger set (~199).
- MARD — common in China, largest set (~291); helpful for portraits and landscapes.
- Nabbi — ~30 colors for icons, logos, and simple cartoons.
More colors is not automatically better: large palettes can force rare purchases. Inventory your boxes first.
How to choose
Pick the brand printed on your bead boxes. All five are ~5 mm on the same large pegboards. If you mix brands, generate on one primary palette, then use Replace all for beads you actually own (see Replace all).
Max colors still caps how many colors appear in one pattern — see Max colors.
Switching after generate
Change Colors anytime; the pattern remaps and the materials list updates. Then:
- re-read Materials for shopping;
- check tricky blends (skin, sky) for poor nearest matches;
- use Edit, paint, or Replace all as needed;
- enable Show codes before print (see Show codes).
Approximate colors
Reference values come from community measurements (e.g. beadcolors). They are for on-screen matching and are not guaranteed to match every physical batch. The footer notes no official brand affiliation. Check close shades against real beads in natural light. See materials list and PNG and CSV.
