Build a sphere or dome in three steps

Choose the diameter

Enter how many blocks across the sphere should be, from 3 to 200.
Hollow or solid

Hollow spheres are a one-block shell and use far fewer blocks. Solid spheres are filled all the way through.
Build layer by layer

Start with layer 1 at the bottom, place it using the row counts, then move to the next layer.

Tips for building spheres in Minecraft

A sphere is a stack of circles that grow toward the middle and shrink toward the top. The generator calculates each layer so that the shape is round from every side, not just from above.

Plan the center column

Place a temporary column of blocks (or scaffolding) at the center, as tall as the diameter. Every layer is built around that column, so the layers stay aligned. Remove it when you are done.

Domes

A dome is the top half of a sphere: start at the middle layer (the widest one) and build upward. For a dome on top of a round tower, use the same diameter for the tower in the circle generator.

How many blocks?

Hollow spheres grow roughly with the square of the diameter, solid ones with the cube. A solid sphere quickly needs thousands of blocks, so check the total before you start mining.
