Layer-by-layer plans for a Minecraft sphere

Build spheres as stacked circles: each layer is a circular slice. Flipping layers is safer than trying to hold the whole orb in your head.

Diameter range

In the sphere generator, Diameter is about 3–200. Layers and totals grow quickly with size. In Survival, validate centering, scaffolding, and supply routes on a small diameter (e.g. 10–20) before scaling up.

This tool outputs geometric slices — it is not photo quantization, so “max colors” style controls do not apply here.

Hollow vs solid

Choose Hollow or Solid. Hollow shells save interior blocks for domes and walkable orbs; solid suits filled decor. Re-check total and per-layer counts after switching.

Failure modes: stocking for hollow then building solid (short materials), or finishing a solid orb when you needed usable interior space. Decide the use case first.

Layers and counts

Use Layer with Previous layer / Next layer. Per-layer and total block counts help staging. Titles look like “Sphere {d} · layer {z} of {d}”. Pick one build order (bottom-up or equator-out) and keep a center mark so layers do not drift.
