Ohio Star Quilt Block · Spring Blossom kinusaiga pattern

Beginner 7 pieces 4 fabrics ≈ 1–2 hours

The classic Ohio Star: a nine-patch grid with eight crisp star points around a bold center square, all straight lines. This version uses the Spring Blossom palette of petal white, pink, rose.

Fabrics you need

#ColorSuggestionPiecesAt 8 in
1 Petal white 1 about 7" × 7"
2 Pink 1 about 5" × 5"
3 Leaf green 1 about 4" × 4"
4 Rose 4 about 4" × 4"
Maker tip: Score every line against a metal ruler — straight grooves give the sharpest star points.

How to make the Ohio Star Quilt Block · Spring Blossom kinusaiga

  1. Print and transfer

Print the cut map at your chosen size, tape it to a foam board and score each line about 1/8" (3 mm) deep, keeping the blade upright.

  2. Cut your fabric

Match the 4 numbered colors to your fabrics. Cut each piece about 1/4" (6 mm) larger than its shape on every side.

  3. Tuck the 7 pieces

Start with the background and work toward the front. Press the fabric edges into the grooves with a butter knife, seam ripper or tucking tool.

  4. Finish and frame

Trim any loose threads, tuck the outer edge around the board and set it in a shadow box or a deep frame.
