Ohio Star Quilt Block kinusaiga pattern

Beginner 10 pieces 4 fabrics ≈ 1–2 hours

The classic Ohio Star quilt block translated into no-sew fabric art: a nine-patch grid with eight star points and a bold center square. All straight lines.

Fabrics you need

#ColorSuggestionPiecesAt 8 in
1 Cream background 1 about 7" × 7"
2 Navy star points 4 about 5" × 5"
3 Red center 1 about 4" × 4"
4 Mustard 4 about 4" × 4"
Maker tip: Use a metal ruler for every cut — perfectly straight grooves are the secret to sharp star points.

How to make the Ohio Star Quilt Block kinusaiga

  1. Print and transfer

Print the cut map at your chosen size, tape it to a foam board and score each line about 1/8" (3 mm) deep, keeping the blade upright.

  2. Cut your fabric

Match the 4 numbered colors to your fabrics. Cut each piece about 1/4" (6 mm) larger than its shape on every side.

  3. Tuck the 10 pieces

Start with the background and work toward the front. Press the fabric edges into the grooves with a butter knife, seam ripper or tucking tool.

  4. Finish and frame

Trim any loose threads, tuck the outer edge around the board and set it in a shadow box or a deep frame.
