Actions that require sign-in
The header has Sign in. You only need it for three things (dialog title “Sign in to Pixtern”):
- Share in a designer — prompt “Sign in to publish your pattern to the community gallery.”. Full steps: Publish your pattern to the community gallery.
- Like on a community work — “Sign in to like patterns and find them again later.”.
- Syncing My colors across devices — “Sign in to keep your colors on every device.” / button Sign in to keep these on every device.
After sign-in, the avatar menu shows My patterns, Sign out, and privacy.
Three sign-in methods
- Continue with Google
- Continue with GitHub
- or use your email: enter Email, press Email me a code, type the 6-digit Sign-in code (about 10 minutes), then Sign in. You can Send a new code or Use another email.
Email is used only for sign-in; the dialog links to the privacy policy. If one method is unavailable in your environment, switch to another. Clearing site data signs you out.
My patterns
Avatar menu → My patterns opens the gallery with tab=mine. That lists works you published. Hidden / reported items show “Hidden” with the mine-tab lead (“Patterns you have published. A hidden pattern was reported and is waiting for review.”).
An empty state appears when you have not published yet and points you to a designer + Share. Unpublished local drafts are not listed — publish to the community first, or keep your own PDF/PNG/CSV backups.
Likes and work-page actions
On community work pages, Like requires sign-in. Likes stay on your account so you can recognize them later. You can also Open in a designer or Report. Liking does not open the editor — use Open when you need to edit.
My colors: local vs synced
Grid designers and the kinusaiga designer have My colors. Each tool keeps its own list (empty copy: “Type a hex code above, or tap a color to fill it in. Each designer keeps its own list.”).
- Signed out: status On this device — this browser only.
- Signed in: sync states Saving… / Synced (or Not synced).
Local favorites never require an account; sign-in is only for the same library on every device. On sync errors, keep working locally and retry when the network is stable.
What stays free without an account
- Browse galleries and community lists (read-only).
- Use makers and designers; print and download exports.
- Keep My colors locally.
- Full kinusaiga flow: pattern maker, designer, print/export — no account required.
Recommended practice
- Sign in early if you rely on a synced color library across devices.
- My patterns lists published works only — back up drafts yourself via print / PNG / CSV.
- After sign-out you can still draw and export; community and sync features pause.
- Gallery reference: Find a pattern in the gallery: print, download, or edit.
