Kinusaiga

Print the cut map at true size for carving

Kinusaiga tucks fabric into scored foam grooves. If the print is scaled, every groove drifts — later fabric tweaks rarely fix a wrong scale.

Why real size matters

Board sizes you set in the kinusaiga pattern maker or designer (for example 8×10 in) map to the physical foam board. Line spacing on the cut map is the groove spacing you will score; region areas on the fabric map guide fabric cuts.

“Fit to page”, “Shrink to fit”, or any custom scale enlarges or shrinks the whole diagram. Grooves no longer match the design, and fabric pieces either will not tuck in or sit loose. Unlike bead grids, you cannot “add one cell” to compensate — if scale is wrong, reprint.

Print dialog settings

Press Print (often labeled PDF in English UI). In the system print preview:

  • Set scale to 100% / Actual size;
  • Disable Fit to page / Shrink to fit / fit-to-printable-area style options;
  • Match portrait/landscape to the tool so the browser does not crop a second time.

General print/PDF flow: Print and PDF. Perler board pagination is unrelated — kinusaiga’s constraint is absolute size.

Verify the scale mark

Printed sheets include a calibration mark that should measure about 1 inch (2.54 cm). If it is short or long, the driver is still scaling — do not score the foam yet. Print a draft on plain paper first, measure along the mark’s long edge, then reprint the cut map on paper you will tape to the board.

Printed pages and next steps

A typical Print/PDF run yields about two pages:

  • Cut map — lines for scoring;
  • Fabric map / fabric list — numbered regions matching the fabric table.

Workflow: real-size cut map → score foam → cut and tuck fabric from the fabric map. See cut map vs fabric map. PNG/SVG help on screen, but scoring still follows a real-size printed cut map.

If scale is still wrong

  • Save as PDF, then print from a desktop reader to bypass some browser zoom;
  • Check printer preferences for a separate fit-to-paper toggle;
  • Avoid Fit to page again inside the PDF reader;
  • Confirm the board size in the tool, then export once more.
